Candied Orange Slices

Sweet, chewy candied orange slices that make a delightful treat and versatile garnish for various dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oranges
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of water

Instructions

  1. Slice the oranges thinly to about 1/8 inch thickness, removing any seeds.
  2. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat until sugar dissolves, then bring to a gentle boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low and carefully add orange slices to the warm syrup.
  4. Let orange slices simmer in syrup for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove slices from syrup with a slotted spoon and transfer to a wire rack to cool and dry completely.
  6. Enjoy the candied orange slices or store them for later use.

Notes

Use fresh, firm oranges for the best flavor. Consider adding spices to the syrup for extra flavor.
