2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
3 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons baking powder
Spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves)
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and spices. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each one is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until incorporated.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
