Chicken Tikka Masala

A flavorful and creamy Indian dish made with tender chicken pieces, aromatic spices, and a rich sauce. Perfect for impressing guests or a family dinner.

  • 1 pound boneless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and season with salt.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add diced onions and sauté for 4-5 minutes until translucent.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute.
  5. Add garam masala, cumin, turmeric, and chili powder; cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Add the chicken pieces and brown them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Pour in crushed tomatoes and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. Stir in heavy cream and cook for another 5-10 minutes until sauce thickens.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, marinate the chicken in yogurt and spices for at least 30 minutes.
