Creamy Potato Hamburger Soup

A hearty and creamy soup combining potatoes, ground beef, and cheddar cheese, perfect for cozy evenings.

  • 4 slices Bacon
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 medium Carrot
  • 2 stalks Celery
  • 3 medium Potatoes
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 4 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese

Instructions

  1. Chop bacon and cook in a large pot over medium heat until crispy, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add ground beef to the pot and cook until browned, around 5 to 6 minutes. Set aside with bacon.
  3. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, diced carrot, chopped celery, and cubed potatoes to the pot. Sauté for about 5 minutes until onions are soft.
  4. Add salt, pepper, and basil. Stir for 2 minutes to enhance flavors.
  5. Sprinkle in flour and stir for 2 minutes to create a roux.
  6. Gradually whisk in chicken broth and bring to a gentle simmer for about 20 minutes.
  7. Add reserved bacon and beef, followed by whole milk. Simmer for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
  8. Just before serving, stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
