Festive Orange Clove Christmas Cookies

  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup Molasses
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon Clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon Allspice
  • 1 tablespoon Orange Zest
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Icing Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Orange Juice
  • 1 tablespoon Cointreau (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Clove (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream softened butter with honey and molasses until light and fluffy.
  3. Add spices, orange zest, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  4. Gradually combine flour and salt into the mixture until dough comes together.
  5. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly browned.
  8. Cool cookies on a wire rack.
  9. Prepare the glaze by mixing icing sugar, orange juice, Cointreau, and ground clove until smooth.
  10. Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies and allow to set before serving.

Notes

Use fresh spices for stronger flavor. Experiment with the orange zest amount for desired citrus intensity.
