Delightful Grinch Cookies inspired by Dr. Seuss’s character, featuring vibrant green color and festive red heart sprinkles, perfect for the holiday season.

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Green food coloring (gel)
  • Red heart sprinkles or red candy melts

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, incorporating fully before adding the next, then stir in vanilla and almond extracts, and mix in green food coloring.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, placing them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and flattening slightly.
  6. Press a red heart sprinkle or candy melt into the center of each cookie ball.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set, allowing to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Dust cookies with powdered sugar once cooled.

Notes

Chill the dough if too soft, and feel free to customize decoration with different shapes and colors.
