Homemade Chebureki

Delightful pastries filled with savory meat, perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium brown onion, finely chopped
  • 1 pound fatty ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon quality sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill
  • 2 cups oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing flour and salt in a bowl. Add water and vegetable oil, knead to form a smooth dough, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. For the filling, combine chopped onion and ground beef in a bowl. Add seasonings and mix thoroughly.
  3. After resting, divide the dough into balls, roll out each into a circle about 6 inches in diameter.
  4. Place filling on one half of the dough circle, fold over, and seal the edges firmly.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry chebureki for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with your choice of sauces.

Notes

Chebureki can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month.
