Homemade Pesto Sauce

A simple and flavorful homemade pesto sauce made with fresh basil, garlic, and Parmesan cheese, perfect for elevating a variety of dishes.

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup pine nuts
  • 12 cloves garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Splash of cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather all the ingredients listed above.
  2. Rinse the fresh basil leaves under cold water and pat them dry.
  3. In a food processor, combine the basil, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, pine nuts, and garlic.
  4. Pulse the mixture until finely chopped, scraping down the sides as needed.
  5. With the processor running, slowly add the olive oil until the mixture is smooth.
  6. Season the pesto with salt and pepper to taste and blend again if needed.
  7. For a creamier pesto, stir in a splash of cream.
  8. Serve the homemade pesto over your favorite cooked pasta or as desired.
