Honey Butter Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add honey and mix until combined.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk; mix carefully to avoid overmixing.
  7. Fold in the chopped pecans.
  8. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 60-70 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  10. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for up to a week. It can also be frozen for up to three months.
