Ingredients
Scale
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 cup warm whole milk
2 tbsp active dry yeast
1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
2 large eggs (room temperature)
1 tsp salt
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
1/4 cup unsalted butter (for glazing)
2 tbsp honey (for glazing)
1 tsp fresh rosemary (finely chopped for added flavor)
Instructions
Activate the Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.
Combine Wet Ingredients: After the yeast is activated, add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
Incorporate the Flour: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
Kneading: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
Shaping the Rolls: After rising, punch down the dough, divide into 12-16 pieces, shape into balls, and place in a greased baking dish.
Second Rise: Cover and let the rolls rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake: Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Make the Rosemary Honey Butter: Mix softened butter, honey, and finely chopped rosemary in a small bowl.
Glaze the Rolls: Brush baked rolls with melted butter, drizzle with honey, and sprinkle with rosemary.
Cool and Serve: Allow rolls to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, experiment with different herb butters or variations like garlic herb butter or cinnamon honey butter.
