Oreo Bat Cupcakes

Delightful chocolate cupcakes decorated as spooky bats, perfect for Halloween or festive occasions.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling hot water
  • 12 Double Stuf Oreos
  • 1 pack candy eyes
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 drops gel food colors

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and salt. Whisk together.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just mixed.
  5. Gradually add boiling water, mixing until combined.
  6. Line a cupcake pan with paper liners and fill each about 2/3 full with batter.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Cool cupcakes in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  9. Beat the softened butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar until well blended.
  10. Add gel food coloring to frosting and mix to desired color.
  11. Frost the cooled cupcakes with your colored frosting.
  12. For decorations, break Double Stuf Oreos in half for wings and place them on top of the cupcakes, adding candy eyes.
