1 cup Unsalted Butter (or Coconut Oil, or Vegan Butter)
½ cup Granulated Sugar (or Brown Sugar, or Coconut Sugar)
½ cup Brown Sugar (or Maple Syrup)
2 cups Oats (or Gluten-Free Oats)
1 cup All-Purpose Flour (or Whole Wheat Flour, or Almond Flour)
4 cups Apples (sliced, any tart cooking apple)
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon (or Nutmeg, or Apple Pie Spice)
1 cup Salted Caramel Sauce (or store-bought caramel or chocolate sauce)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal.
In a medium bowl, melt the butter and mix it with granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined. Stir in the oats, flour, and a pinch of salt. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Bake the crust for about 10 minutes, or until it’s lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly while you prepare the filling.
In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and a touch of brown sugar, ensuring they are well coated with the spice mixture.
Spread the apple filling over the crust evenly, using a spatula to ensure all spaces are filled.
Drizzle the salted caramel sauce generously over the apples.
Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and juices are bubbling.
Allow to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before slicing to ensure the bars are set.
