Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (or Coconut Oil, or Vegan Butter)
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar (or Brown Sugar, or Coconut Sugar)
  • ½ cup Brown Sugar (or Maple Syrup)
  • 2 cups Oats (or Gluten-Free Oats)
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour (or Whole Wheat Flour, or Almond Flour)
  • 4 cups Apples (sliced, any tart cooking apple)
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon (or Nutmeg, or Apple Pie Spice)
  • 1 cup Salted Caramel Sauce (or store-bought caramel or chocolate sauce)
  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal.
  • In a medium bowl, melt the butter and mix it with granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined. Stir in the oats, flour, and a pinch of salt. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake the crust for about 10 minutes, or until it’s lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly while you prepare the filling.
  • In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and a touch of brown sugar, ensuring they are well coated with the spice mixture.
  • Spread the apple filling over the crust evenly, using a spatula to ensure all spaces are filled.
  • Drizzle the salted caramel sauce generously over the apples.
  • Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and juices are bubbling.
  • Allow to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before slicing to ensure the bars are set.
