Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
Mix in the maple syrup and egg until fully incorporated.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid over-mixing.
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to portion out the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving enough space between each cookie.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. They may look a bit soft; they will firm up as they cool.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
