Turkey Chili

A hearty and comforting turkey chili that’s a healthier alternative to traditional beef chili, loaded with beans and vegetables.

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) beans (such as kidney or black beans), drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Brown the Turkey: Heat a large pot over medium heat, add ground turkey, and cook until browned and thoroughly cooked.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for 3-5 minutes until the onion is soft.
  3. Add Remaining Ingredients: Stir in beans, diced tomatoes, chicken broth, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Simmer: Bring to a simmer, lower the heat, and cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve: Spoon the chili into bowls and top with cheese, sour cream, or cilantro as desired.
