Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 8 slices soft white or whole wheat bread
  • 1 large cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened (optional)

Method

Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
  2. Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface. If desired, lightly butter one side of each slice to add a rich flavor. Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture onto the unbuttered side of each slice.
  3. Place the thinly sliced cucumbers evenly over the cream cheese on half of the bread slices. For extra flavor, you can lightly salt the cucumber slices before placing them on the bread.
  4. Top the cucumber-covered slices with the remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down. Press gently to secure the sandwiches.
  5. Using a sharp knife, carefully trim the crusts off the sandwiches for a dainty presentation. Cut each sandwich into quarters or smaller rectangles, depending on your preference. Arrange them on a platter and serve immediately.

Notes

Choose soft bread like white or whole wheat for best results. Thinly slice the cucumber using a mandoline or sharp knife for the best texture. Store sandwiches in an airtight container with a damp paper towel to keep them fresh if preparing ahead.
