Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for brushing

Method

Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Mix well and let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of the baguette slices with olive oil and place them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  3. Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread. Serve immediately while the bread is still warm and crispy.

Notes

Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Always use fresh basil for the best taste. Toast the bread until crispy to prevent it from becoming soggy. For an extra touch, drizzle a little balsamic glaze over the assembled bruschetta before serving.
