Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns

Method

Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, salt, and pepper.
  2. Gently mix the ingredients until just combined – avoid overmixing to keep the burgers tender.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 1/2-inch thick.
  4. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking.
  5. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and lightly oil the surface.
  6. Cook patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  7. Toast the burger buns lightly if desired.
  8. Assemble burgers with your favorite toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

Don't overmix the meat, keep ingredients cold, use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness (165°F), and let burgers rest 2-3 minutes after cooking. The indentation in the center prevents bulging during cooking.
