Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 4 large ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • Optional: grated Parmesan cheese for garnish

Method

Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir gently to mix all the ingredients together. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden and crisp. Alternatively, you can toast them in a toaster or on a grill.
  3. Once the baguette slices are toasted, rub each slice with a garlic clove for extra flavor. Spoon the tomato mixture onto each slice, ensuring it's evenly distributed. If desired, sprinkle a little grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  4. Bruschetta is best served fresh. Arrange the slices on a platter and serve immediately to enjoy the crispiness of the bread and the freshness of the tomato mixture.

Notes

Choose ripe tomatoes and fresh basil for the best flavor. Toast the bread well to prevent sogginess. For a variation, add diced avocado or chili flakes for a spicy kick.
