Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)

Method

Instructions
  1. Prepare your ingredients and preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Add softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar to the same bowl and mix until creamy and smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. Stir in the oats until evenly distributed, then fold in optional raisins or chocolate chips if using.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  7. Let cookies cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use softened butter (not melted) for best texture. Don't overbake - remove when edges are golden but centers look slightly underdone for maximum chewiness. Cookies can be customized with nuts, dried cranberries, or other mix-ins.
