Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas thoroughly with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth with a few small chunks remaining.
- Add the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
- Stir in the milk and any optional add-ins like walnuts or chocolate chips. Pour into your prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean with just a few moist crumbs attached.
- Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas with black spots for maximum sweetness and moisture. Don't overmix the batter. Start checking for doneness at 50 minutes. The bread continues cooking as it cools.
