Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Create a well in the center of the flour mixture.
- Pour the activated yeast mixture and olive oil into the well. Stir with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. The dough should spring back when lightly pressed.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, then shape into your desired pizza crust. Let rest for 15-20 minutes before adding toppings.
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Add your favorite toppings and bake for 12-15 minutes until crust is golden brown.
Notes
Use warm (not hot) water to activate yeast. Add flour gradually - too much flour makes dough tough. Proper kneading develops gluten for perfect chewy texture. Allow adequate rising time for best results.
