1 (9-inch) pie crust
6 cups apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
3/4 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C).
If using homemade dough, roll it out and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Crimp the edges and poke holes in the bottom with a fork. Pre-bake for about 10-15 minutes until slightly golden.
In a large skillet, heat the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and vanilla. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
Once the apples are done, pour the filling into the pre-baked crust, ensuring it’s spread evenly.
Place the pie in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Cover the edges with foil if they start to brown too quickly.
After baking, remove the pie from the oven and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
Enjoy your pie as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
