  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour.
  6. Gently fold in half of the sliced strawberries.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let cake cool completely before topping with remaining strawberries and garnishing with mint.

Notes

For the best strawberry desserts, always choose ripe, fragrant berries. Look for strawberries that are deep red throughout without white or green tips. Wash berries just before using and pat them dry to prevent excess moisture in your recipes.
